Why are you sponsoring a cow?

We’ve sponsored a cow! Well, two actually! This is Summer and Torque, mother and son at Meanwood Valley Farm.

I love seeing them on my daily walk. They are inseparable.
It’s kinda fun but it also represents a really important aspect of our little shop.
We put as much money as we possibly can back into the community we serve.
There's an intricate web of connections between you good folk, our staff, our suppliers and other independents.
Here's a few of them.
Those micro greens on your avo toast this morning are also from Meanwood Valley Farm and are grown by Ben - one of our customers.

Our milk is organic and delivered by our local milkman Steven.
Our house espresso is roasted by another Ben - he's one mile down the road on The Penreavon Estate.

Our coffee grounds are composted and you’ll find them fertilising various allotments and gardens in and around Hyde Park (yes you can help yourself - the bin is behind the shop).
All our staff are paid “The Real Living Wage’, live within walking distance and contribute locally to our community in their free time... especially the coffee shops and music venues.
Finally we also find ways to give back to the wider community, even beyond our customers. With your help we’ve raised over £9,000 for Rainbow Junktion and we continue to care for and make gradual improvements to The Birdcage, which is open to everyone.

Thank you so much for supporting the work we do and choosing to spend your hard-earned dosh with us. It really is appreciated.
All the love,
Tim and the team
