Five reasons to shop local this Christmas

1. A walk with a purpose.

No, you don’t get it delivered to your doorstep. Nothing beats a walk and fresh air to clear your head - we all need to escape the stresses and strains of daily life sometimes. Every time you do, your mental and physical wellbeing will thank you. If Covid taught us one thing perhaps it was how much we all need to get out of the house for a daily stroll. No, you don’t get it delivered to your doorstep. 

2. Bringing back the high street one independent at a time.

Indies attract more indies. If one shop thrives in your area it encourages another brave soul to open next door. Unfortunately the opposite is also true. A failed indie acts as deterrent to those who may otherwise have given it a go. If you want more indies back on your high street, please support the ones you already have.

3. It supports your local economy.

Praise be the circular economy! When you shop local, more of the money you spend stays in your community. The money you spend goes towards local suppliers who are employing local people in local trades. The myriad of connections ensures you will be supporting not just the shop where you made the purchase but countless other folks in your community too. All the good karma to you🙏

4. It’s great for the wider economy.

It's clear that growing the economy is an essential component to improving our public services and standards of living. Starting a biz is not for everyone. It's essential that we support the brave entrepreneurs and small biz owners who have already taken the plunge in order to encourage those with the same entrepreneurial zeal to turn their dreams into reality.

5. Reduces social isolation

Social media dominates our lives. Small businesses provide us the opportunity to connect with real people. Sometimes it’s less about the purchase and more about being seen, heard and valued by a real human being. Indies are hives for community and what we represent is far more important than any product or service.

More than anything else these reasons are why I support them.
