The history of coffee and the wider role coffee shops have played in society has always fascinated me.

This evening is all about plying you with amazing coffee (and some awful stuff too) whilst teaching you about its provenance and history. You'll learn about where coffee comes from, how it is grown, how it is processed and how to pick the coffee that suits your palette off a retail shelf.

You will laugh and you will cry. I'm going to teach you how coffee crossed continents. How it has affected national economies. I'll be candid about the role of colonisation and slavery. At times you'll question whether you ever want to drink coffee again and then I'll explain exactly why you must.

Tonight we'll plot against the monarchy, take part in the French Revolution and the American civil war. We'll be ruined by a global depression and change ecosystems forever and I can't wait to tell you all about it.
